KATAKLYSM Guitarist On New Album: 'Expect The Best, Because That's The Effort We Gave It'
January 23, 2008KATAKLYSM guitarist/producer Jean-François Dagenais has issued the following update on the group's forthcoming album, entitled "Prevail":
"Finally… I'm the one who never takes a break in the band, and I can finally breathe!! After two months, the album is fucking done! Just laid down a few leads yesterday and double-checked everything. The album came out great. The sources are fantastic and don't expect 'In the Arms of Devastation 2'. This album stands in a league of its own. Everyone gave it 150%. It's the most brutal since 'Temple of Knowledge' and 'Serenity in Fire' and the most catchy since 'Shadows & Dust' and 'In the Arms of Devastation'. Expect the best, because that's the effort we gave it. Next week we fly to Jason Suecof's studio in Orlando, Florida where we will be putting the final touches to this masterpiece!"
"Prevail" is scheduled for release via Nuclear Blast Records on May 23 in Europe and May 27 in North America.
KATAKLYSM will perform at the Rebel Radio "Birthday Bash" alongside TROUBLE on January 27 at The House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois. More bands will be announced soon.
KATAKLYSM recently decided to "immortalize" the character that was featured on the cover of their most recent album, "In the Arms of Devastation", and have him re-appear as the main character — dubbed "The Heartbeast" — on "Prevail".
Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "We had so [much] killer feedback on the artwork but especially on the character that we decided to keep him as the band's fifth band member... kinda like IRON MAIDEN did with 'Eddie.' We have the perfect concept for the next album art... it will be bad-ass!"
